“My approach is straightforward, influenced by my experience as a life-long athlete.”

Suite 4300
Minneapolis, MN 55402
Rob focuses his practice on insurance coverage and complex environmental litigation— especially cases involving environmental claims made under a wide variety of insurance policies. When the environmental claims involve a catastrophic event, he represents insurers and insured in both defending against such claims and their efforts to recover funds from legally responsible third parties. He’s currently leveraging that experience by providing his advice and counsel to insurers faced with COVID-19 insurance coverage related questions. He represents insurers in complex insurance conflicts in jurisdictions across the country and has achieved favorable results in cases including, West Bend Insurance Company v. U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Company, 598 F.3d 91 (7th Cir. 2010); A.J. Hall v. Federated Mutual Ins. Co., 1996 WL 23368 (Tenn. App.); and Iowa Comprehensive Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Fund Bd. v. Federated Mut. Ins. Co., 596 N.W.2d 546 (1999).
Rob is one of the firm’s leaders as a member of its Management Committee. He is an original member of Meagher + Geer’s Electronic Litigation practice group. In that capacity, Rob’s experience with electronic case management, electronic discovery and electronic trial presentation allows him to advise a diverse range of clients in a variety of ways. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, a national organization of defense trial lawyers and corporate counsel.
“My approach to the law and to my clients is straightforward – shaped in many ways by my experience as a life-long athlete. I approach each case strategically. I realize that we all have different strengths – each of which contributes to a successful outcome. I prepare vigorously, anticipating many contingencies. Like athletes, lawyers compete because they want to win.”
Outside the office, Rob remains involved as a volunteer in his community Lacrosse program. He played NCAA Divison 1 lacrosse at Harvard. He also coached his four children in his favorite sport.
